Mr. Mohammed Mizanur Rahman is a dedicated and accomplished civil servant with a distinguished career spanning over two decades. On 22 October 2023, he assumed the charge of Director General of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, National Statistical Organization of Bangladesh.

 

Mr. Rahman's journey in the civil service commenced on 15 November 1995 as a member of the 15th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre. He began his career with the Ministry of Labour and Employment and went on to serve in various capacities in the Government. Afterwards he worked in the Bangladesh Public Administration Reforms Commission (PARC), the Economic Relations Division (ERD), the General Economic Division (GED) of the Planning Commission, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), and the Technical & Madrasah Education Division. Prior to his appointment as the Director General of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, he worked in the Ministry of Public Administration. He also gained international experience during his career having worked in the Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh. His diverse experiences have contributed to his profound understanding of public administration and governance.

 

Mr. Rahman's academic background is equally impressive. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours and Master's degree in Statistics from Chattagram University. After entering the civil service he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economic and Financial Forecasting from the United Kingdom. His commitment to continuous learning is a testament to his dedication to his profession.

 

 In his quest for professional growth, Mr. Rahman participated in numerous training courses, both domestically and internationally. Notable among them are Leadership Training Program for Economic Development in Asia and the Pacific in South Korea, Developing E-Government Strategies Course in Singapore, Leadership and Policy Management Course in the United Kingdom, Professional Development Program in Australia, and Adaptive Delta Management course in the Netherlands.

 

Mr. Rahman's roots lie in Daulatpur, under the Chhagalnaiya Upazila of Feni District. He is the son of Mr. Md. Abu Taher and Mrs. Salima Begum. He is happily married to Fardous Ara Munni and takes pride in being the father of two daughters and one son. His personal life reflects the same dedication and commitment that he brings to his professional roles.
